The Sounds of Faith

Romans 8:22-27 The Spirit prays for us with sighs too deep for words
Ezekiel 37:1-14 The valley of dry bones

We breathe, we groan, we hear the wind blow, sounds and words start to emerge from our mouth in ways we never thought possible. These are the sounds of faith evoked by the spirit on the day of Pentecost. Today is about celebrating our faith, a faith that unites us as Humans in our diversity, a faith that moves us to act with compassion and integrity, honesty and in hope. The hope we speak of is not a hope that is seen, it is a hope that is experienced, it is a hope that is active in the people of faith. So let's make some noise and celebrate God's presence and our Christian faith. .

The desire to escape, the call to engage

Jeremiah 17:5-11, 14 Blessed are those who trust in the Lord.
John 17:6-19 Jesus prays "That they may be one, as we are one."

The desire to escape, the call to engage There are many times in our life when all we want to do is get away from it all, find a nice quiet peaceful place to relax and not feel the pressure of life and responsibility. At this time of year, we think about heading back into nature. There are many retreat centres, camps and spa like places to do this. However, Jesus has called us to live in the world, not to escape it. The challenge we face is finding ways that empower us and others to find balance in the world that is complex and challenging, and Jesus wants us to answer this call.
