Fear of Faith

1 Samuel 17:32-49  David and Goliath
Mark 4:35-41 Jesus stills a storm

We often don't know what we are made of until we end up in a crisis situation. We know that when faced with challenges it is easier to rely on others, or assume that we can't change the situation we are in and we sometimes end up blaming God for that which we can't control. Do we fear being faithful people because of what God expects of us? Do we have so little faith in ourselves and God that we run from our vocations and our callings? Redemption is ours for the taking and it comes with great reward. Let us face our fears together for the love of Christ.

God's Hand will Guide Us

1 Samuel 15:34- 16:13. David is anointed as King.

2 Corinthians 5:6-17. Walk by faith, not by sight.
Mark 4:26-34 Jesus stills a storm.
Today's scriptures invite us to take a step back and look at our world in a different way - without our sight. We are reminded that God does not see as we see, God is Holy Mystery, God is our Creator. It is easy to get caught up in our own struggles, and we can get caught up in looking at our lives through the lens of hopelessness, despair and deep seeded concern. When we do this we run the risk of running into potholes, lamp poles, and other day to day hazards. What would happen if we let God guide us? What would happen if we let God be our Seeing-eye dog? How might our lives be different?

Redefining Home & Community

Psalm 138 I praise God with all my heart.
2 Corinthians 4:13-5:1 Our inner nature is renewed day by day.
Mark 3:20-35 Who give Jesus his power?

Pentecost draws into focus the presence of the Holy Spirit in the Church and in our lives and invites us to meet that Spirit in the living of our lives. When Jesus' mother and family came to see him, his disciples announced them but Jesus replied, "Who are my sisters and my brothers?" Jesus called his followers to re-examine their relationships, to see one another as family and love one another accordingly. Imagine what our church would be like if we knew one another like our family, if we could be present to one another in that way.... When we allow Spirit to guide our lives, our words and our actions, our relationships with others are changed and all things are possible.
