2 Kings 4:42-44 Feeding the crowd
John 6:1-15 Jesus feeds five thousand people
Ephesians 3:14-21 strength in your inner being

The word "plenitude" is part of the language of paradise, of the beauty and joy of life. But it appears to us only if we choose to see it, because there is lots of the dark side of life for us to see as well. How do we cultivate our ability and our willingness to see the fullness and plenitude of life? Where are the choice-points? How does the Spirit lead us on this path?

The world is God's temple

2 Samuel 7:1-14a David is not the one to build God's house
Ephesians 2:11-22 You are holy citizens, members of God's household
Mark 6:30-34, 53-56 Jesus teaches from a boat and heals the sick.

How do we honour God? David wanted to honour God by building God a temple, a home, a place as magnificent as a house fit for a King. God has already given us a house, it is the Kindom of God, it is the world in which we live and move and have our being. We are part of a larger universal home which cannot be contained, but can be celebrated and worshipped through our love and compassion for one another. How will we honour God today?.

Being political is about being faithful.

2 Samuel 5:1-5, 9-10 David is anointed King
Psalm 48 God be praised in the city of Zion
Mark 6:1-13 Jesus, rejected in Nazareth

In a recent interview on CBC Radio, Senator Nicole Eaton said, "I don't think that churches should take political stands. I think they should be more about helping people and giving people succour." What is the place of faith in the public arena? What is the role of church members in the political process? We will explore the scriptures as well as the Moderator's response to this statement of the role of church and state and consider the role of prophecy in our world and our response as a church to Jesus' proclivity towards rebellious actions and call for change and reconciliation.

The Way To Healing

2 Corinthians 8:7-15 Excel in everything.
Mark 5:21-43 Young girl raised, woman healed.

Today's scriptures tell the story of how confessing one's faith is the way to healing. Healing happens through touch, word and deed. In these stories we hear of how people did not simply sit back and wait, they reached out, they claimed it, they believed and they were healed. Healing isn't always about physical health, it is about finding balance and making space for God to transform us and bring us peace. Jesus says, "Go, for your faith has made you well." What posture will we take to move towards healing in our own lives?
