A Journey of Awakening!

Isaiah 40:28-31 Strength to the powerless
Ephesians 5:6-14 Live as children of the light

The season of Easter invites us to explore the cyclical nature of life, death and transformation to new life. New life comes when we have the courage to enter the darkness, to enter the moments of uncertainty and the moments of pain. Life is a journey and there are moments along this journey when something acts as a catalyst for change. At that moment we have a choice. Paul in his letter to the Ephesians invites them to live as children of light! He calls the people to awake and live! Where are you on the journey of awakening? listen . view

The Witness Statement

Colossians 1:15-20 First born of all creation
Psalm 96 Sing a new song, praise God
Mark 16:1-8, 14 Resurrection & Commissioning

Tell me what you saw on Easter morning? We hear Mark's witness statement which is the earliest written witness statement in the Bible. Now like the faithful followers during Christ's life, we too are being called to witness! Like Mary Magdalene we are called by God to go and tell the world that Jesus has been raised. We need to roar like the sea, and let the earth rejoice, and the trees of the forest sing. But all too often we are afraid and instead we cry.we were not there, we have not seen. Yet we know that God created all things visible and invisible. We have witnessed God at work with our eyes, with our hearts, with our lives. We proclaim and believe that God's Spirit is at work in our world. So on Easter Sunday let your voice ring out in joy and "Go into the world and proclaim the good news to the whole creation."

Faithfulness in the Garden

Scripture:

  • Exodus 1:15-20 Birth of Moses
  • Mark 13:14-19 Desolating sacrilege

Sermon:

Faithfulness in the Garden
We hear increasingly grave warnings about the deterioration of our natural environment. Increasingly loud voices challenge the leadership of industry, science, and government. We who are called to prophetic ministry, dedication to the common good, and love of the human family and all creation-how are we to respond? What is true faithfulness for us who live in God's garden?

Let There Be Greening

Scripture:

  • Romans 8:19-23 Creation in Labour

Sermon:

Let There Be Greening
In the midst of all that we have learned about how to "live with respect in creation" there is something beyond the pragmatic necessity of preserving this little blue planet of ours. Environmental destruction is also soul-destroying. It is our spiritual survival that is at stake here, not just physical. As we cultivate the well-being of the planet, our own souls blossom!
